Scott Hall, Senior Business Development Manager, City of Chesapeake
How long has your organization been a NAWBO SEVA Corporate Partner? 3 years, if memory serves me well The City of Chesapeake and NAWBO SEVA share similar goals: Effecting change that makes a positive difference is no easy task, but that’s what both organizations do on a regular basis. It only makes sense to seek out advice and experience from those who face, and overcome, similar challenges. Based on your experience, what do you see as the most important thing a member or corporate partner can do to grow with NAWBO SEVA? Anything they can – no matter how large a role, or small, just be involved at whatever level is possible. Can you describe the key business services and solutions your organization provides? The Department works to attract new businesses to the City, assists existing businesses with a variety of issues, and promotes entrepreneurial activities. Accomplishing this mission involves creativity in marketing, communications, research, advertising, application of technology, and product development (making sure land and/or buildings are available for companies to occupy). In a few sentences, what makes your company’s services unique? I’m not sure that what we do, or how we do it, is that unique. We try to be the best at what we do, we hate the word “no”, we hate to lose, and we believe every prospect that walks through our doors is as important as any other. |
